D.I.Y. . .DO IT YOURSELF
So for those of you with lots of time and a good soldering iron, the question to be asked is "what am I saving in labor?". We charge 20 hours @ $30.- per hour shop rate to build a bay. We charge 2 hours @ $50.- per hour for wirelists and designations. Their is a 5-10 hours @ $50.- per hour for the overall studio system and patchbay design. Hence, a 4 patchbay job at an average of $1,900.- per bay equals $7,600.- "out the door". The labor portion of this amount would be @ $3,000.- to $3,300.-. These numbers are based on the average patchbay system, and are accurate within 5%. Your actual bay may vary. License and taxes extra.
SO YOU STILL WANT TO DO THIS YOURSELF?
Here's how we can help. Once you or I design the system, we can package all the necessary parts and send it off with a wirelist to explain how to prep each end. There is a $75.- per bay misc. shop charge to cover shrink, teflon, tubing, etc. We can package enough stuff per bay and send it with your parts for the same price. A measurement chart showing where to cut, teflon, tube and number can be included if you want your snakes to look like ours. Happy soldering.
